Surveillance Systems For Home Use

Saturday, April 6th, 2013

I have to wonder why home owners in general have not made more use of surveillance systems as a way to deter crime, or identify the criminals when a crime is aimed at their home.

Home Surveillance

Surveillance systems are common in commercial buildings and other public venues. However, surveillance systems are seldom seen in homes. The question is why? Are home surveillance systems ineffective? Are home surveillance systems too expensive? Are the assets that businesses protect more important or valuable than what is found in the home and therefore the expenditure not justified? I believe home surveillance systems are extremely important and certainly qualify as a justified expense.

I am surprised that more people don’t have home surveillance systems. Home surveillance systems are very…Read more

We believe that no home should be without the protection of  a surveillance system as part of a home defense plan. The use of hidden cameras also makes a lot of sense when it comes to protecting your loved ones and property.

A Detroit Woman With A Home Surveillance System Catches Thieves In The Act

Thursday, February 7th, 2013

The chances of catching these thieves is fair if someone can tell who they are through the grainy video provided. These security cameras are 6 years old and technology has come along way since then. Better quality home surveillance systems produce very clear video and pictures that do a much better job of identifying the criminals at work. The cost of such systems are probably less than what this woman paid for hers at the time of purchase 6 years ago. If you are looking to buy such a system, we can provide it along with industry leading tech support.

DETROIT, Mich (WXYZ) – A Detroit woman with a surveillance system caught two thieves breaking into her home and now with her home locked up tight, she wants them caught and convicted.

It happened back in October, but police are just releasing surveillance photos. The homeowner, Bernitta Rogers, says she is hoping this leads to the arrest of the home invaders… Read more, watch video

It is important to remember that you get what you pay for, so please read the specs when comparing surveillance systems, cameras, DVR’s, etc. And check to see if  the company you are going to do business with has any complaints against it.

Surveillance Cameras Capture Business Break-In

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012

You cannot go anywhere it seems without running into surveillance cameras and many are hooked into the local police and even Big Brother. Although whenever the good guys come up with a way to protect what is theirs, it seems the bad guys come up with a way to beat it. The Goofballs in the video link below believe they have the surveillance system beat by wearing ski-masks, not paying attention to other important factors that will most likely led to their capture.

OKLAHOMA CITY – An elaborate surveillance camera set-up will likely help police catch a handful of thieves trying to make off with the property from a small business in Oklahoma City.

Police are investigating the break-in at Innovative Products last Thursday night about 10 p.m.

Innovative is located on Beacon Place, near Reno and MacArthur.

Thieves broke the business’ gate as they tried to steal a flat-bed trailer.

Three or four suspects can be seen on surveillance video driving through the gate and destroying a lock on the trailer…Watch Video

Our thoughts here at home security Cameras Plus is that the perpetrators will be caught and we like that.

Surveillance System Benefits And The Advancement Of The Technology

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

There is a peace of mind that comes with knowing that you have a set of eyes on your home, your property, your loved ones or your business at all times. Even when you are not there.

You cannot read about surveillance systems without coming across how much they are being used by almost every police department in our nation. The use of these systems has done a lot of good in the way of identifying the perpetrators of crimes that would otherwise have gone unsolved.

You Tube and the internet in general are filled with videos of everyone from abusive nannies to violent felons being caught by surveillance systems set up to do just that, catch the bad guys. Although they cannot stop a crime from taking place, surveillance system benefits are too many to be ignored.

The use of security cameras being used by authorities is at an all time high and growing day by day. The reason for this is simple. These cameras are solving a lot of crimes. They are making it harder to get away with anything in the areas that they are being employed in, both residential and publicly.  That is a big benefit to using them.

With the technology getting more advanced, the days of the old grainy video recordings are all but gone. The surveillance systems for home use today are generally using cameras with 550 to 650 TV lines of resolution, unless someone thought they were getting a great deal by buying junk without reading the specs.  With that kind of resolution, you have a very clear picture of what gets captured. Many of the cameras have infrared LED’s that allow them to work in total darkness which adds to the benefits of owning such a system.

You can have accessibility to what is going on in your home or place of business even when you are not there and that is a big benefit in the world of surveillance systems today. digital video recorders or (DVRs) and network video recorders (NVRs) have been built to be network compatible and share information across IP networks.

There have been many people who have been alerted to a break in at their home or business while they were not there. Maybe they were out for the evening, or on vacation, whatever the reason, the benefit of having such a surveillance system is obvious. They have watched what was unfolding on their phone, laptop or desk computer from somewhere else and able to call police and catch the bad guys red handed.

Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) is used to describe video compression technology. This technology has been refined over the years and some of the variations are MPEG2 and MPEG4.  MPEG4-PART 10, is also known as H.264 AVC,  which stands for Advanced Video Coding. It is very efficient video compression technology. This compression technology has quality enhancements over the previous MPEG schemes for many video applications. H.264 is the compression technology being used in many of the DVRs that are now used for home and small business applications. You can record and keep far more quality video on a surveillance system using this technology.

You can have a motion activated surveillance system that only goes into action when movement is detected. This makes the system much more efficient in the way of saving space on the DVR and allowing you to find what you are looking to view of the recorded material much faster.

If something takes place on your property and you end up in court, it is one thing to tell your side of the story and hope you are believed, it is quite another to have video proof of what happened which is indisputable.

With the advancement of the technology used in building today’s surveillance systems and the affordable cost of such technology to the public, along with the peace of mind they bring to those who own and use them, it becomes very obvious what the benefits are to having one of your own.

Surveillance System Catches Midtown Crime On Camera

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

Crime is all around us. Though there is much good in the world, there is no denying the bad people with evil intent running around and through our society. With the help of surveillance systems, more and more crime is being caught on camera and the perpetrators brought to justice.

(MOBILE, Al) – When Bob Brunson went to work Saturday night, he expected, as he would any other night, to be making money. Little did he know, he was losing money, just outside the back door. As Brunson was leaving work, he noticed glass on the ground near his car, and a softball-sized hole in his passenger side window.
Brunson went to check the footage from the surveillance camera pointed directly at his car.

What appeared to be a man in a heavy coat and hat casually walked up and checked the passenger door. Seeing it was locked, the man walked to the driver’s side and found that door also secure. The footage shows the man found his own way to get inside the car. In a split second, the man winds up as if he were a Major League pitcher and hurled a rock through the passenger window. When the man opened the door, the car’s headlight could be seen flashing, indicating the alarm had been set off. Still, the man rummaged through the car only to find a single bag. He grabbed it, gently closed the door and merely walked away...Read more

With some type of  surveillance system in place, you have the ability to capture the image of those who would take what is yours against your will, along with the evidence to put them behind bars.

The evil is not going to magically go away, but you can give yourself the edge and the benefit of not becoming just another helpless victim. Take the time to view some of your possibilities in the way of surveillance systems or hidden cameras that would fit your needs and help protect your family and your property.

Businesses Add More Surveillance System Cameras As Crime Spikes

Sunday, September 23rd, 2012

More and more businesses are adding surveillance systems and even upgrading the ones they have for the extra legal protection it offers them, as well as the benefits afforded when a crime is caught on the system. That benefit is being able to see just what took place, and identifying the perpetrator or perpetrators and aiding in them being brought to justice.

LA CROSSE, Wis. -

With a recent spike in crime, including last weekend’s double homicide, more and more businesses are looking to invest in a surveillance video system, or even upgrade the one they have.

As customers enjoy a nice meal and wash down a pint of their favorite beverage at Dublin Square Irish Pub in downtown La Crosse, a watchful eye in the sky is working to make sure everything is business as usual.

“It has helped in situations that have occurred that have saved our butts,” said Matt Boshcka, co-owner of the pub. “As far as what happened outside with a fight or some sort of loud scene going, on our surveillance just helped aid in the police in solving that crime.”

From the outside patio to the entrance…Read more, watch video

Streaming Surveillance Cameras On TV For The Public To Monitor

Saturday, September 15th, 2012

What if you could sit in the comfort of your own home and watch what is happening in your own town via police run surveillance cameras? That is what is being proposed by the Mayor of  Bristol. This is a novel idea and it will be interesting to see it play out.

This adds a whole new meaning to the words “Town Watch”.

Bristol may bring the town watch concept into the 21st century.

In addition to having town watch members walk the streets looking for signs of trouble, council President Ralph DiGuiseppe wants to live-stream images from borough cameras at borough properties on the town’s public TV channels.

That way, residents who see crimes in progress on their TV screens can call the police from the comfort of their homes, he explained.

“If someone is defacing our property, we have the right to monitor our property,” DiGuiseppe said during last week’s council meeting. “The cops can’t be in every place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Bristol solicitor Bill Salerno is looking into the legalities of the preliminary idea. The borough will also look into cost. Read more…Borough surveillance on local TV

Intruder Is Caught By A Neighbors Security Camera

Sunday, September 9th, 2012

There is no doubt that surveillance systems have caught a lot of criminals in the act and provided the evidence to take them off the streets. One man who installed  security cameras on his property to protect his own home ended up recording the burglary of a neighbors home, while the woman who lived there was in the next bedroom from where the thief came in.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – One man is using technology to fight crime in his neighborhood.

Ted Raver said that he believes crime in his west Columbus neighborhood is on the rise.

His Mound Street home is protected with cameras like those that one would find at a bank or convenience store.

“You have nine (cameras,) with room for three more,” Raver said. “You keep an eye on just about everyone. I keep an eye across the street, behind me and beside me.” Read more and watch the video…Resident’s camera captures Intruder

If you plan on putting together a surveillance system to watch not only your home but some of the neighbors as well, you should keep in mind the distance you will be recording at and buy the appropriate cameras to do the job.

This will ensure excellent clear video that will identify the bad guys for police.

Please do not buy junk! or you may never know what they look like.

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Police need help identifying the vandals seen defacing private property in surveillance footage.

This kind of graffiti is all over The Fan. It could cost business owners quite a bit of cash to clean up. Now they’re hoping the public can help them get some pay back.

The suspects might as well have smiled for the camera and held up their ID’s. The surveillance footage is that clear.  Read more, watch video…Caught in the act.
